A luxury passenger bus traveling from Kattankudy towards Colombo veered off the road and collided with a tree near the Seerunuwara Kallar Army Camp bend on the Seerunuwara-Kantale road. The accident occurred around 12:15 a.m. on January 20 due to heavy rainfall in the area.
Out of the 49 passengers onboard, 14 individuals, including the driver and conductor, were admitted to the Seerunuwara Hospital for treatment. Subsequently, the driver and nine passengers were transferred to the Trincomalee Hospital for further medical care.
