A 43-year-old man has been arrested at the Katunayake airport for attempting to smuggle in 47 cartons of imported cigarettes.
According to the Police, the suspect was arrested during a raid conducted by Police Narcotics Bureau officials based on a tip-off.
The suspect was found to be in possession of 47 cartons consisting of 9400 sticks of imported cigarettes.
The man, a resident of Yatiyana, had arrived in Sri Lanka last night. The Police Narcotics Bureau is conducting investigations. (Newswire)
