A program to raise awareness among the members of Community Policing Committees in Jaffna and Kankesanthurai Police Divisions was held on Sunday (Mar 17).
The event was held last night in Jaffna under the patronage of Minister of Public Security, Tiran Alles, with the participation of the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, Viyani Gunathilaka, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon.
According to the Police Department, around 2000 Community policing members from 431 Grama Niladhari Divisions of Jaffna and Kankesanthurai Police Divisions participated in this occasion.
Addressing this gathering, Minister Tiran Alles and the IGP announced that Operation Yukthiya will be further in progress to minimize crimes in the area.
They added that investigations will be carried out by police stations based on complaints and information in connection with crimes received through the newly launched “107″ Emergency hotline, which focused on the Tamil community living in the North Eastern province. (NewsWire)
