Opposition MP Shanakyan Rasamanikkam has raised serious concerns about the deteriorating public security situation in Sri Lanka following the shooting of SLPP activist Dan Priyasad.
In a statement shared on social media, MP Rasamanikkam noted that while he had personally been threatened by Priyasad during a past Mullivaikal memorial event in Borella, the activist’s incident—regardless of political affiliation—highlights a troubling trend of rising violence across the country.
“This incident, irrespective of his political alignment, constitutes part of a disturbing pattern of escalating violence witnessed across the country in recent months,” Rasamanikkam stated.
He further said that such incidents undermine public confidence in government claims that action is being taken to curb underworld activity. (Newswire)
