The driver of a ‘Choon Paan’, a three-wheeler selling bakery items, has been arrested for chain snatching in Dehiwala on October 11.
CCTV has emerged showing the suspect parking the three-wheeler in a by-lane and approaching an elderly woman from behind, after which he is seen snatching the chain and fleeing using the vehicle.
Police investigations have found that a gold chain valued at Rs. 200,000 had been snatched from a 60-year-old woman.
Further investigations have found the three-wheeler parked at a bakery in Ratmalana. The suspect has also been arrested in the Badovita area in Dehiwala with a stock of ‘ICE’ narcotics. (Newswire)
