Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa met with Japanese Ambassador Akio Isomata yesterday for discussions focused on resuming development projects previously suspended by the former government.
The Opposition is committed to supporting the reactivation of projects funded by the Japanese government, Premadasa said, assuring cooperation in facilitating their progress.
The meeting comes after Japan’s recent statement that new projects in Sri Lanka will be considered only after assessing requests from the Sri Lankan government and the country’s economic status.
The Japanese Embassy said that its current priority is to complete 11 resumed projects, including the Bandaranaike International Airport expansion, which are reported to be progressing smoothly after debt restructuring talks. (Newswire)
