Government authorities state information is yet to be received on Sri Lankan Officer Cadet Mohammed Aneek who was officially commissioned as an officer at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom recently, after which he was reported missing.
The Sri Lanka Army has launched an investigation after Sri Lankan Officer Cadet Mohammed Aneek was reported missing in mid-August.
Mohammed Aneek was officially commissioned as an officer following his successful completion of the rigorous 44-week training programme at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom.
The Commissioning Ceremony took place during the Sovereign’s Parade on August 09, a revered Sandhurst tradition marking the culmination of intense training for officer cadets.
Following the Commissioning ceremony, Mohammed Aneek had left the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and was set to depart for Sri Lanka but had not boarded the flight.
It is reported that despite the Sri Lankan mission in the UK offering to make arrangements for his travel to the airport, Mohammed Aneek had refused the offer claiming he would make his own arrangements.
The Sri Lanka Army has revealed that it is yet to obtain information on the whereabouts of Mohammed Aneek and that the British authorities have been informed in this regard, after which a probe has been launched. (Newswire)
