National Peoples’ Power (NPP) Leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake has demanded compensation of Rs. 500 million from former minister Johnston Fernando for making a statement with malicious intent against him, it was reported.
According to Lankadeepa newspaper, MP Dissanayake testified before the Colombo District Court on Tuesday (May 28), informing the court that he had been insulted by the statement made by former MP Johnston Fernando at a public meeting organized by the Joint Opposition in Tangalle in 2017.
Presenting ten documents, including his Bachelor of Science degree certificate from the University of Kelaniya, MP Dissanayake requested the court to issue an order granting compensation for the discredit caused to him. (Newswire)
