Sri Lanka sees Sharp Rise in Workers’ Remittances in March 2025

Workers’ remittances surged to USD 693.3 million in March 2025, marking a significant increase compared to USD 572.4 million recorded in March 2024, and USD 548.1 million in February 2025.

According to the Central Bank, this reflects an 18.1% year-on-year growth in remittances for the first quarter of 2025, reaching a cumulative total of USD 1,814.4 million, up from USD 1,536.1 million during the same period last year.

In rupee terms, March 2025 inflows were valued at Rs. 205.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 11.9%. (Newswire)
