The Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL) has issued a clarification on reports of sending 28 employees on compulsory leave.
Issuing a statement, the AASL said the decision to send the employees on compulsory leave was taken due to the group violating the regulations of the institutions.
The AASL said the 28 employees, belonging to the Trade Union Collective representing airports, had warned the AASL authorities of engaging in a strike action affecting airline operations.
The employees had informed their decision via a letter to the Director General of the AASL, which was deemed a violation of the institution’s laws and a serious damage to the nation.
The AASL further said it has initiated action based on disciplinary violations, adding that the employees were prohibited to enter the airport until a thorough investigation was conducted into the matter.
Stating that the decision was taken in line with the laws, the AASL said that the intended investigation will be conducted in a fair and comprehensive manner soon. (NewsWire)
