A woman who was abducted from a restaurant in Horana yesterday was located by the Horana Police three hours after the incident, it was reported.
CCTV footage from the restaurant shows the woman purchasing a drink and sitting at a table when a man and woman forcibly carry her out of the restaurant.
Employees of the restaurant had immediately informed the Police emergency hotline of the incident, after which officials from the Horana Police found the victim’s handbag through which they were able to contact her mother.
The victim’s mother had informed the Police that her daughter had ended a romantic affair a few months ago and had continued to be threatened by the ex-lover from Bandaragama.
She further said that as a result, the victim was staying at a relative’s place in Banadaragama for her safety.
The Police who had traced the ex-lover’s house had found the victim at a residence along the Bandaragama – Anguruwathota road, while they had also found the vehicle used for the abduction.
The suspect, a woman and another astrologer who had aided the suspect were arrested and produced before the Horana Magistrate after which they were remanded until October 23, 2023. (NewsWire)
