SLPP National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa has criticised President Ranil Wickremesinghe for dividing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna despite the party completely supporting President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
“The SLPP decided in 2022 to invite Ranil Wickremesinghe to take over the government, which he agreed to. The SLPP gave its fullest support to Ranil Wickremesinghe at the time. To date, the SLPP has never voiced any opinion on the policies implemented by the President, even if it was against the party’s policies,” he said, speaking to reporters.
MP Namal Rajapaksa emphasized that the SLPP never took any measures to inconvenience the government or to break the political stability in the country.
“However, the biggest gift given to the party for completely supporting President Ranil Wickremesinghe was the division created within the SLPP. We have fulfilled our responsibilities. We will take a political decision in the near future,” he added. (Newswire)
