The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to allow the Galle Face Green in Colombo to be utilised for various events, aside from religious events.
Cabinet Spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath said as per a previous Cabinet decision of the former government, the Galle Face Green was restricted to religious events only.
He said, however, that the Cabinet of the new government has decided to utilise the Galle Face Green for various events, such as activities promoting tourism and commemoration events such as May Day.
Addressing the weekly post-Cabinet media briefing held today, Minister Herath said that the Galle Face Green will be provided for events on a conditional basis. (Newswire)
